You’re in Shenzhen for work. Guilin is 90 minutes away. Use it.
A conference doesn’t have to mean another hotel lobby. Fold three days of karst, quiet, and proper food into the same trip — and come home actually rested.
The arc
Shenzhen is China’s hard-tech showcase — EVs, robotics, the future arriving on schedule. Guilin is the opposite: slow water, mist, and a silence you can feel. Put them in the same week and the contrast does the selling for you. It’s the “business + leisure” idea done properly, not as a slogan.
The 3-day reset template
- Day 1 — arrive, decompress. Land, check into somewhere quiet, walk the river at dusk. No agenda.
- Day 2 — the slow day. A village or a cave off-script, a long lunch, the dawn-mist photo if you’re up for it.
- Day 3 — ease back. A lazy morning, good coffee, fly or train back to Shenzhen clear-headed.
For assistants
If you’re the one actually building your boss’s itinerary, start with the assistant’s guide — it’s written for exactly your job: the 2-day-vs-3-day call, the no-fail skeleton, and the quiet wins that make a Guilin leg look effortless.
Practical
Shenzhen to Guilin is about 90 minutes by air or roughly three by high-speed rail. Which to pick depends on the calendar and the carbon mood; I’ll cover the trade-offs in the journal. 【Jo 核实:常用航班/车次偏好】
